Who Said Summer is Boring with No Sports
Without beloved football during the Summer, especially after the NFL draft in April, it could feel a bit blah sports-wise. However, you have to broaden your mind, and enjoy some international faves!
In these past two weeks I have thoroughly enjoyed the Women’s Euro soccer tournament and Le Tour de France. Yes, I do have an international flare to me, if I do say so myself! But, so should you!
Sunday, 27 July is the championship game for the Women’s Euro and I swear the last four games I watched all were tied after regular time and went to penalties! Well, except for the Italy vs England game where Italy was winning for almost 90 minutes and then England hits one in to go to extra time. In extra time they score another, and baam, off to the final. And always rooting for some Baltimore, the women’s French team has a strong forward with great footwork named Baltimore - so instantly my team to cheer for - well, until they got booted of course. So in the final tomorrow is England and Spain - I’m excited for a great game.
Now the Tour… Yea, I know, my kids tell me all the time, it’s just people riding bikes. But UHHHH, it’s so much more. The strategy, the team, the crashes, the scenery, it’s so much more than people just riding bikes. The only issue with the Tour is that it’s been pretty much dominated by two riders over the last 4 or 5 years. You pretty much see the strength of their teams and those two guys throughout the tour and if you’re a betting person and take the field over those two - yea, you’re gonna lose your dinero. But still, it’s a great watch and like the Women’s Euro, the last day is tomorrow after 21 days of riding (who does that). So Summer sports is not boring, you just have to broaden those taste buds and enjoy some international flavor. Like here at Bodega and Vino, with wines around the world, be open to anything!
